2014 World Series of Poker Day 32: Phil Ivey Wins Bracelet #10, Ties Brunson, Chan
With the continuation of the massive ��Monster Stack,�� the start of the Ladies event, and a half-dozen events in action total, it was another frantic Friday at the 2014 World Series of Poker. But of the thousands of players involved, one �� Phil Ivey �� grabbed the WSOP spotlight yet again by winning his 10th career bracelet in Event #50: $1,500 Eight-Game Mix.
Here��s a rundown of all of the action from Day 32 at the WSOP.
Event #49: $5,000 No-Limit Hold��em
From a field of 696 there were 23 returners for Day 3 of Event #49: $5,000 No-Limit Hold��em, and after a full day of play David Miscikowski and Norbert Szecsi were unable to resolve their heads-up duel and so will return Saturday afternoon to determine a winner.
Among those who fell prior to the final table on Friday were Andy Spears (23rd, $22,309), Anthony Spinella (22nd, $22,309), Melanie Weisner (21st, $22,309), Daniel Colman (19th, $22,309), Tony Gargano (16th, $27,510), Jason Koon (13th, $34,413), and Josh Arieh (12th, $43,081).
They then played from nine down to two in fairly short order, with the final table��s many notables falling one by one as Blake Bohn (ninth), John Dolan (eighth), Jean Gaspard (seventh), Kevin MacPhee (sixth), and Oliver Price (fifth) were successively eliminated.
Eventually Manig Loeser would knock out Margareta Morris in fourth, then Loeser would himself go out in third after flopping top pair with Q?10? on a 10?7?5? board only to see Miscikowski call his all-in reraise holding 7?5?. The better hand held, and they were down to two.
Scecsi had a better than 2-to-1 advantage over Miscikowski to start heads-up play, but after nearly three full one-hour levels of play Miscikowski ended the night with 5,525,000 to Szecsi��s 4,920,000, which is where they��ll start back at 2 p.m. PDT today to see who wins the bracelet and big $719,707 first prize.

Event #50: $1,500 Eight-Game Mix
Just 14 players returned Friday from a starting field of 485 in Event #50, with Ivey third in chips but close behind the Event #17: $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold��em Championship winner Dan Heimiller and Aaron Steury.
Extra attention was focused both on Ivey and six-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu who started the day in ninth position, not just because of the many bracelets the pair had won before but also for the significant side action involving both players, including bets on whether one of the two would win a bracelet this summer.
Alas for Negreanu, following the early bustouts of short stacks including Amnon Filippi in 11th, Negreanu would fall in ninth in hand of pot-limit Omaha versus Heimiller, then when Alex Rocha was eliminated in eighth the official seven-handed final table was set.
Ivey had the chip lead by then, and soon Christoph Haller was knocked out in seventh and Yuebin Guo sent to the rail in sixth.
Five-handed play would last a while, during which period Ivey would lose the lead. Then after getting short-stacked Stephen Chidwick would become the fifth-place finisher after a hand of 2-7 triple draw with Ivey.
Ivey was back in front again, then Heimiller took out Steury in fourth during the limit hold��em round. Heimiller next would go out in third in a no-limit hold��em hand that saw him open-raise all in with K?4? from the button, get called by Ivey holding A?6?, then watch the board come A?8?8?7?2? to give Ivey the hand.
Bruce Yamron would be Ivey��s heads-up opponent, and Yamron would have a slight edge to start heads-up play. But Ivey would seize the advantage immediately before the NLHE round ended, then during seven-card stud widened the gap considerably before a hand of Omaha Hi-Low arose that saw Yamron all in by the turn with the board showing A?7?5?K?.
Yamron held A?J?8?7? for aces and sevens, but Ivey had A?K?9?8? for aces and kings and a better two pair. The river then brought the Q? and Ivey had done it.
The win moves Ivey into a three-way tie for second place on the all-time WSOP bracelets list, joining Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan as 10-time winners, with all sitting three behind leader and 13-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth.

Event #51: $1,500 No-Limit Hold��em Monster Stack
With 3,826 players returning for Friday��s Day 2 in Event #51: $1,500 No-Limit Hold��em Monster Stack from a massive starting field of 7,864, it felt a lot like a Day 1 of another big field tournament with every available table again being employed for the event. A late-night decision was made to stop play on Day 2 prior to the last scheduled level. A big field 576 players still remain in the event, with Salvatore Bianco the overnight chip leader and Michael Richardson, Gabriel Paul, and Daniel Hirleman right behind him at the top of the leaderboard.
Tom Alner (in seventh), Josh Pollock (eighth), Jason Wheeler (11th), Martins Adeniya (12th), and John Monnette (14th) likewise will be among the bigger stacks to start Day 3.
The cash bubble has already burst in this one, as the top 792 finishers made the money. But all continue to eye the huge $1,327,083 first prize up top as well as the six-figure paydays guaranteed to each of the nine who make the final table.

Event #52: $10,000 Limit Hold��em Championship
Meanwhile, Day 2 of the Event #52: $10,000 Limit Hold��em Championship played out as well on Friday, a tournament that attracted 122 competitors from which 71 returned on Friday.
After another day��s worth of small and big bets, that group played down to just 10 with Greg Debora finishing the night with the chip lead with two-time bracelet winner Bill Chen still among those who will be contending for the title on Saturday. Gabriel Nassif will also be coming back to a short stack but with hopes of making his third final table of the summer.
Just 18 players made the cash in Event #52, with David Chiu (17th, $16,273), Cathleen Tran (15th, $19,312), and Steven Wolansky (12th, $23,268) among players making the money on Friday.

Event #53: $10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold��em Championship
As noted, Friday saw the start of the Event #53: $10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold��em Championship for which women receive a discounted buy-in of $1,000. A total of 793 came out on Friday, a bit down from the 954 who participated in the Ladies NLHE Championship a year ago. That group built a total prize pool of $713,700, with a prize of $153,470 awaiting the winner.
After one day of play Pat Landis finished with the most chips to lead the 101 survivors, with Xuan Liu (in fifth position) and Melanie Weisner (in 14th) among those who also built above average chip stacks on Friday.

Event #54: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low
Finally �� as if that weren��t enough �� there was one more event to get started on Friday, Event #54: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low. A total of 474 players joined the action in this one, building a $1,294,020 prize pool to be divided among the top 54 finishers with $297,650 going to the eventual winner.
After one day of play they are down to 152, with Event #31: $1,500 No-Limit Hold��em winner Brett Shaffer the end-of-Day-1 chip leader followed by Florian Langmann and Richard Gryko. Two-time 2014 WSOP bracelet winner George Danzer sits conspicuously in fourth position in overnight counts, with Andy Bloch and Robert Mizrachi a couple of other notables with top 10 stacks as well.
