With the World Series of Poker just days away from celebrating its first "shuffle up and deal" of the year, Global Poker Index (GPI) owner Alex Dreyfus announced the launch of the first free, GPI-branded print magazine available in the U.S.

In a note published on the GPI's blog, Dreyfus explained that the magazine "represents an exciting milestone. Were constantly on a path to innovate how we can serve the poker community and grow together. This is our first full-scale foray outside of the digital and we couldnt be happier to take this step and keep our growing momentum going in time for the 2014 WSOP."

The 56-page magazine will be entirely dedicated to the 2014 World Series of Poker and will feature "event schedules, tips from the poker experts, the ultimate Las Vegas Survival Guide (compiled by 14 of pokers top players and insiders), tournament listings for other summer Las Vegas poker events, Fantasy Poker Manager advice, thousands of rankings from HendonMob.com and GPI, and many other fun surprises.

"In less than three years the GPI has become the worlds poker ranking authority," Dreyfus explained. "The poker world acknowledged that it needed a dedicated solution to rank tournament players. We are happy they trusted us to step in and fill this void, and we believe all players need recognition if we want to grow our industry."

"I see the magazine as another stepping stone and encourage anyone who isnt in the GPI Top 300 to see if you have made it to the GPI Top 1,500 list," Dreyfus continued. GPIs mission is to promote poker players more effectively, more fairly and to a much larger audience."

Among other things, the magazine features an in-depth story about PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst, a full schedule of all WSOP events as well as an interesting guide about 'how to survive in Las Vegas' during the World Series.

The new magazine is only the first of a series of new initiatives that Zokay Entertainment - the group that already controls the GPI and the HendonMob - is planning to launch during the summer.

"In the next few weeks, well be making some big new releases, as well as announcing a lot of surprises and new features from GPI for the WSOP," Dreyfus said.

The magazine, which is already accessible here in a digital edition, will be available for free at the Rio during the WSOP, and will be distributed in other locations as the Bellagio, the Aria, the Venetian, the Wynn, and the Golden Nugget starting June 1.
