The latest stop on the PokerStars.net Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) continued on Friday as 145 players returned to Crown Perth in Western Australia for Day 2 of the ANZPT Perth Main Event. At the end of six 60-minute levels, 48 players remained, which is just 21 spots off the money.

The player to have the most productive day at the tables on Day 2 was Western Australia local Sal Fazzino. He bagged up 258,200 in chips, just ahead of Patrick Mahoney, who finished with 255,000. Fazzino, who is known online as "ugr Italy," recently finished 14th in the 2014 Aussie Millions Main Event for an AU$70,000 score. He will be looking to improve on that result at ANZPT Perth.

It wasnt only Fazzino and Mahoney who finished Day 2 of ANZPT Perth with big stacks, as Luke Spano and Stephen Woodhead also finished with stacks in excess of 200,000 chips.

Some of the others who survived Day 2 include Dean Blatt, recent ANZPT Auckland champion David Lim, Dylan "WhiteRabbito" Honeyman, Justin Walch, Brian Mcallister, Tristan Bain, and the last remaining ladies Tamara Volkhoff and Lorinda Johnson.

There were plenty of notable names who began Day 2, but unfortunately wont be joining the survivors on the felt for Day 3. This includes Tony Tartaglia, Mile Krstanoski, Jesse McKenzie, Patrick Crivell, Minh Nguyen, Nathan Gubieski, and Full Tilt ANZPT Ambassador Tom Grigg.

One of the largest stacks heading into Day 2 was prominent Australian poker pro Oliver Gill, and he started the day just as strong, quickly skyrocketing to the peak of the leaderboard. Then, it all went south. According to Gill, he went from more than one hundred big blinds to elimination in just one orbit.

Ultimately Gills final hand took place when blinds were 500/1,000 and he defended the big blind holding the 7?5? after Perth local Stev Lackovic opened to 2,300 from early position. Gill found a flush on the Q?J?6? flop and eventually got all the chips in on the river after two safe black cards were dealt on the turn and river. Unfortunately for Gill, he ran into Lackovics A?K? for the nut-flush and it was all over. After his elimination, Gill told us that this was his "12th or 13th ANZPT Main Event without cashing."

While Gill and all the other victims of Day 2 are no longer in contention for the ANZPT Perth title, 45 others will return on Day 3 and play down to the final table of nine. Before they get there, though, they will have to burst into the money, with the top 27 securing at least AU$4,100. You can find out who the entire 45 are and their seating draw on the ANZPT Perth Live Reporting page.
