While Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov was busy trying to join the elite club of Poker Triple Crown winners at EPT Deauville on Thursday, poker pro Shawn "buck21" Buchanan won a Triple Crown of his own on the virtual felt. Buchanan became the first player ever to win the PokerStars "Triple COOP" (TCOOP, SCOOP and WCOOP victories) after winning TCOOP Event #33: $82 Razz for $14,714.

Dozens of other online players were attempting to accomplish the feat this month, but Buchanan reached the finish line first. Buchanans first PokerStars "COOP" win came in 2007 when he won a World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) title in a $530 Pot Limit Omaha event for $97,262. Five years later he won a $2,100 Razz event during the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) for $44,145, and then he won another SCOOP title last year when he took down the $2,100 NLHE 10-Max Shootout for $118,800.

Buchanan's "Triple COOP" was achieved Thursday when we won another Razz title in the TCOOP. He's now a Sunday Million victory away from becoming the first player to earn the PokerStars Grand Slam (all three COOP titles and a Sunday Million win).

Buchanan now sits third in the 2014 TCOOP leader board standings with 180 points, trailing only "CMoosepower" (220 points) and "jonaj10" (190 points). The leader board winner will receive a Champions Trophy, plus a 2015 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package worth $16,500.

There were still 15 events remaining in the 2014 TCOOP as of Friday morning. The flagship event of the 50-tournament series is the $700 NL Hold'em Main Event on Feb. 2, which features a $2 million guaranteed prize pool and at least $300,000 for first place. Another highlight of the festival is a $2,100 NL Hold'em High Roller event with a $1 million guaranteed prize pool (also on Feb. 2).
