On Sunday, Jan. 19, a bad beat jackpot of $183,623 was struck at Harrah's Philadelphia when David Gallagher's king-high straight flush defeated Anthony Nicodemo's quad kings. The two were playing a $1/$2 no-limit Texas hold'em cash game when the qualifying hand occurred.

Nicodemo is a local from Philadelphia, PA and earned the lion's share of the jackpot worth $91,811. Gallagher, from Ridley Park, PA, collected $45,905. The five other players at the table were awarded $9,181.

"2013 was a tremendous year for Harrah��s Philadelphia poker players striking it big with our Bad Beat Jackpot, with this latest hit its seems that 2014 could possibly even be bigger," said Ron Baumann, Harrah��s Philadelphia Senior Vice President and General Manager in a press release. "Harrah��s Philadelphia would like to congratulate all the players stationed at the poker table at the time of the hit on Sunday, as well as the hundreds of others who have cashed-in since the Bad Beats�� inception."

Harrah's Philadelphia is owned by Chester Downs & Marina, LLC, which is a division of Caesars Entertainment Corporation. Caesars Entertainment is a company that is no stranger to large poker jackpots.

On Nov. 27 of last year, the Flamingo Las Vegas poker room was stuffed full of excitement as Caesars Entertainment��s record-breaking "Mega Beat Progressive Poker Jackpot" was hit for a staggering $766,951.

Harrah's Philadelphia will play host to the World Series of Poker Circuit in just under three month's time, beginning on April 17 and running through April 28.
