2013 WPT Five Diamond Final Table
Seat | Player | Chips |
---|---|---|
1 | Eddy Sabat | 1,540,000 |
2 | Barry Hutter | 1,265,000 |
3 | Dan Smith | 3,720,000 |
4 | Gary Benson | 3,110,000 |
5 | Joe Serock | 1,615,000 |
6 | Shaun Suller | 2,425,000 |
At the start of the day, Jean-Robert Bellande had the chip lead over his 20 opponents. He would fall in 10th place, but before him plenty of big names were eliminated including Dan Martin (19th - $30,379), Will "The Thrill" Failla (18th - $34,719), Steven Silverman (16th - $34,719), Dan O'Brien (13th - $41,229), and Zachary Clark (12th - $52,079). When it was Bellande's turn to go, Smith was the man who got him.
According to the WPT live updates, Bellande fell during Level 24 with the blinds at 12,000/24,000/4,000. Smith had opened with a raise to 60,000 from middle position before Bellande called from the cutoff seat and Joe Serock called on the button. The three players saw the flop come down K?8?6?, and action checked to Serock. He fired 105,000, and Smith called. Bellande then check-raised all in for roughly 700,000, and Serock folded. Smith made the call, though, and it was his A?K? up against the at-risk Bellande's K?Q?.
Bellande was unable to find the help he needed when the 5? landed on the turn and the J? hit the river. He was eliminated in 10th place and took home $52,079.
After Bellande busted out, Christian Harder took ninth place for $69,438, Antonio Lafosse finished in eighth place for $95,478, and Curt Kohlberg was eliminated in seventh place for $134,537. Kohlberg's elimination came on the official WPT final table bubble to signify the end of play.
During Level 26 with the blinds at 20,000/40,000/5,000, Shaun Suller raised to 90,000 from the cutoff seat. Eddy Sabat called on the button, and then action fell to Kohlberg in the small blind. He reraised all in for 495,000, Suller called, and Sabat folded.
When the hands were revealed, it was Kohlberg's tournament life on the line with the 2?2?. Suller had the J?J?, meaning Kohlberg would need some help. The flop, turn, and river ran out 9?6?6?3?4? and that was the end of the line for Kohlberg.
With the official televised WPT final table set, action will resume on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Las Vegas time. All of the remaining competitors have locked up at least $175,766, but they've got all eyes set square on the more than $1.16 million top prize.
