2013 PokerStars ANZPT Auckland Day 1b: Anesone Bragouits Takes the Lead 0001

The first stop on Season 6 of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) continued on Thursday as Day 1b of the ANZPT Auckland Main Event took place at the SKYCITY Auckland Casino. There were a total of 66 entrants, and at the end of the day 32 remained.

It was a roller coaster day of action as players such as Miroslav Sheynin, Koray Turker, and Daniel Levy fought it out for the chip lead all day. However, in the end a late surge from Anesone Bragouits would see him end up with 106,600 in chips. That was enough to make him the leader, and Bragouits is the only player so far to reach six-figures to start this event. He ammassed more chips than any player from Wednesday's Day 1a.

We mentioned that Sheynin was one of the chip leaders throughout the day, but unfortunately for him some late trouble would send him to the rail. It was a cooler of a flop that did the damage to Sheynin. He and Prashant Arora committed all the chips on the flop of A?7?10?. Sheynin showed the A?10? for top two pair, but couldn't believe his misfortune when Arora tabled the 10?10? for a set of tens. The turn and river changed nothing, and Sheynin was sent home, while Arora would go on to finish as one of the chip leaders.

Some of the others who survived Day 1b include Cole Swannack, Slade Fisher, Erich Stadler, and last years ANZPT Auckland third-place finisher, Pravin Harji.

There were plenty of notables who werent as fortunate on Day 1b as they found themselves eliminated. This included such players as Graeme "Kiwi G" Putt, [Removed:17], 2012 ANZ Player of the Year Mishel Anunu, and this years ANZPT Queenstown champion Jono Bredin. Anunu's day ended early when he ran his AxKx inot Turker's AxAx.

Friday is the final Day 1 flight of the ANZPT Auckland Main Event, and a jam-packed poker room at the SKYCITY Auckland Casino is expected. The PokerNews Live Reporting team will once again be providing all the ANZPT Auckland live updates, with the action kicking off at 12.30 p.m. local time.
