Day 4 began with 24 players attempting to reach a final table of six. When it was all said and done, Vasili Firsau and his 2,750,000 chips led the other five players who will compete for the title and $469,477 top prize on Wednesday. WPT Ones to Watch Christina Lindley and EPT champion Mohsin Charania are also in contention.

After the eliminations of David Hu and Eldos Davlet to start the day, it was Jonnie Sonelin who busted just shy of the money when he shoved all in for about 60,000 over Jason Koons open raise with A?Q?. Sonelins A?K? fell short when the board ran Q?6?2?9?2?.

Firsau started the day with the chip lead and kept his momentum throughout by staying near the top of the counts. It was Koon who kept Firsaus momentum running when his K?Q? fell to Firsaus A?Q? on a 5?4?2? flop. Firsaus ace-high held, moving him back into the chip lead while eliminating Koon in 13th place for $27,182. Firsau continued to lead after another big elimination hand. This time it was Firsaus pocket aces that outlasted Victor Choupeauxs pocket kings, dismissing Choupeaux from the field in ninth place ($45,242).

Defending champion Matt Salsberg finished Day 3 with a top ten stack but couldnt hold long enough to make the final table. After a hero call gone awry, Salsberg slipped below 200,000 chips and was eliminated soon after. Choupeaux was the one to axe Salsberg from contention when his A?K? finished best through the community cards against Salsbergs pocket nines. Salsberg collected $33,015 for 12th place.

Play was quiet from the remaining eight players at first, but things quickly picked back up with the elimination of Ali Mekhtoub, who exited in eighth place for $60,562. He was followed soon after by Bernard Guigon who lost a race with A?Q? against Christina Lindleys A?K?.

Other notable casualties from Day 4 included Guy Halimi (21st, $20,250), Byron Kaverman (20th, $20,250), Darko Stojanovic (19th, $20,250), Micah Raskin (18th, $23,170), Rony Halimi (17th, $23,170), Villa Mattila (16th, $23,170), Jean-Noel Thorel (15th, $27,182), Kara Scott (14th, $27,182), Gjergi Sinishtaj (11th, $33,015), and two-time WPT champ Marvin Rettenmaier (10th $33,015).

Play will resume Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. CET and won't end until the next WPT champion is determined. As always, PokerNews will have a full recap of the day's events at the end of the day.
