Jeremy Ausmus Wins 2013 Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza II Main Event for $121,853
The 2013 Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza II $2,500 Main Event wrapped up on Thursday with 2012 World Series of Poker Octo-Niner Jeremy Ausmus taking home the title and the $121,853 first-place prize.

A field of 222 players generated a prize pool of $507,714 in this event with the top 27 players earning a cash. Following the completion of the two Day 1s, Ausmus was the chip leader with 223,800 in chips. Heading into Day 2, Derek Wolters (199,200) and Ryan Welch (175,000) rounded out the top three behind Ausmus, while Jeff Madsen (146,700) and Stan Jablonski (119,500) were also in the top 10.
Aside from those players, Justin Young, Darren Judges, Cary Katz, Sam Cohen, Mark Gregorich, Frank Rusnak and Dan O'Brien all advanced to the second day of play.
On Day 2, the money bubble broke. Of those to cash, but not advance to Day 3 were Nancy Birnbaum (24th - $5,585), Madsen (22nd - $5,585), Gregorich (20th - $5,585), Tom Marchese (17th - $6,346), Judges (15th - $8,123) and Rusnak (12th - $10,408).
Heading into Thursday's final table, just 10 players remained and all were guaranteed at least $10,408. Andrew Mackenzie led the way with 702,000, while Ausmus sat in fourth place overall. Allyn Shulman, winner of the 2012 WSOP Seniors Championship, was also at the final table.
Ausmus found himself three-handed with Ali Fazeli and Welch, but Welch bowed out in third place for $50,771. Then, Ausmus was able to finish off Fazeli and take home the title.
While this marks the first win for Ausmus in 2013, he's quietly earned $250,000 in live tournaments the past couple of months. Down in Australia, Ausmus final tabled the WSOP Asia-Pacific Accumulator Event. With the 2013 WSOP right around the corner, it looks like Ausmus is heating up just in time.
