Iori Yogo

After a frantic day at the tables of Crown Perth in Western Australia, the latest final table on Season 5 of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour has been set. In the end, it was Iori Yogo who bagged up the most chips and will now start the ANZPT Perth Main Event final table with the chip lead.

It wont be an easy ride to victory for Yogo though, with players like [Removed:480] and Dale Marsland hot on his heels. Some others like Luke Brabin, David Evans, David Fragomeni and James Broom may be the final table short stacks, but they have proven to be formidable opponents over the last few days and are certainly still in with a chance. Check out the ANZPT Perth final table draw below.

Beginning at 12:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, everyone involved was gearing up for a long day. After all, there were 33 players remaining. They first needed to burst the money bubble and get into the 24 money-paying positions before making their way to the final table. However, to say it was a quick day would be an understatement.

Within 90 minutes of the day beginning, eight players were eliminated and it was time for the bubble. Inevitably, one player would be going home with no money for their time, and that player was John Dichiera.

The action of the bubble hand saw Dichiera get his last remaining chips in the middle preflop holding the A?10? during Level 14 with the blinds at 1,500/3,000/500. Dichiera's opponent was Broom, who began the day as chip leader and held the A?J?. Dichiera was in plenty of trouble and the news got no better when the K?9?5?5?4? board was spread on the felt. Just like that, the bubble was burst and the 24 remaining players were guaranteed AU$3,900.

From there, the players went home one-by-one with some bittersweet cash in their pockets. Some of those to finish in the money, but fall short of the final table included Ivan Zalac (24th), John Lane (21st), Fabian Craib (20th), Milan Gurung (19th), Ricky Kroesen (17th), Robert Forward (16th) and Peter Woodworth (15th).

The eliminations had already been flying at a rapid pace for much of the day, and there were no signs of slowing down as just 14 players remained. From here it would only take an hour to see Michael Feizpour (14th), Manjot Singh (13th), Pawal Zawadowicz (12th) and Siyu Sha (11th) sent home short of a final table appearance.

Sha's elimination is one of the major reasons that Yogo will be the chip leader of the final table. Sha's final hand saw all his chips in the middle as he held the Q?Q? against the A?10? of Yogo. It was Level 17 with the blinds at 3,000/6,000/1,000 and the pot was 600,000. Unfortunately for Sha, the A?8?8?5?4? board would send all the chips Yogo's way.

At this point there was only one elimination needed before the final table was set. In the end, it was Kent Hunter who would claim the 10th-place finish. Hunter was short stacked during his final moments and would find himself all in holding the K?10? against the Q?Q? of Dikovic during Level 17. The 10?3?A?7?J? board was no good to Hunter, with Dikovic improving his hand to a flush to send Hunter home.
