Thor Hansen

The poker world was shocked by the news that Thor Hansen had developed terminal cancer. The unfortunate news spread like wildfire through the poker community, and everyone was concerned for the veteran poker ambassador. Now the poker community is trying to give back to Hansen, who lives in the U.S. and is faced with potentially insurmountable medical bills.

On Thursday, Feb. 9, Betfair Poker is going to host a special tournament to raise money for the man known as the "Godfather of Nordic Poker". The buy-in is modest $1.00+$10.00 with the entire rake ($10.00) going to the Thor Hansen Fund. Betfair will double the tournament fees collected up to $2,500.

During the tournament, players can make a $1.00+$0 rebuy at any point during the first three levels with a 3,000 chip add-on being available at the break. Betfair Poker is also adding a $1,400 Betfair Poker LIVE package to the prize pool for the eventual winner.
