2012 Aussie Millions Day 8: Lim Wins Event #4; Cockburn Leads Event #5, 18 Remain
The 2012 Aussie Millions Poker Championship continued on Thursday, Jan. 19 in Melbourne, Australia, as the final table of Event #4 $1,100 No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha returned to battle it out for a $36,735 first-place prize. The event attracted 158 entrants, creating a prize pool of $158,000, and in the end, Aaron Lim emerged victorious after entering heads-up play with a 10-1 chip lead and defeating Ali Ghezelbash.

Event #5: $1,100 No-Limit Hold'em Six Handed
A huge field of poker��s elite took to the felt on Thursday in hopes of being crowned the 2012 Aussie Millions Event 5:$1,100 NLH 6 Handed champion. It took more than 12 hours, but eventually the field dwindled to just three tables, and Craig Cockburn finished the day as the chip leader.
Last year, this same event, featuring 373 entrants, was won by Tim O��Shea. This year��s event beat that field, hosting 385 players. That field makes for a prize pool of $385,000, and the eventual winner will take home $84,200.
Joining the field on Thursday, but falling short of a deep run, were Jonathan Karamalikis, Vitaly Lunkin, Roberto Romanello, Van Marcus, Sam Holden, Randy Dorfman, Mario Ho, JP Kelly, Andrew Hinrichsen, Grant Levy, Dan Smith and Nacho Barbero among others.
As the clock ticked late into the evening, the money bubble was finally reached, with Nick Bizimoski as the unlucky player to go home with no cash. Bizimoski had all his chips in holding A?Q? and was unlucky when his opponent made two-pair holding J?10?.
After the bubble burst, the eliminations started flowing, with Vesko Zmukic (36th), Tyron Krost (34th), Jesse McKenzie (29th), Jackie Glazier (28th) and Chris Moorman (20th) each bowing out as the field was down to only 27.
Tom Middleton will be happy he made the trek to Australia, managing to felt 2005 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Hachem. Middleton and Hachem had been battling all evening and eventually it seemed as if Hachem had had enough. He four-bet shoved his stack in holding Ax10x but ran into Middleton's AxQx. The board brought no help for Hachem, who was sent to the rail in 27th place.
Middleton was the first player to hover around 500,000 in chips, but that didn��t last long because he tussled in multiple pots, sending plenty of chips to the eventual chip leader. The biggest portion of Middleton��s stack to be sent to Cockburn occurred when the two players got all the chips in on a flop showing 4x5xJx. Middleton held 6?7? and needed to catch some cards to beat out Cockburn��s A?J?. When no help came for Middleton, Cockburn became the new chip leader.
