The remaining 114 players returned to the Horseshoe Hammond on Tuesday to battle it out on Day 2 of the $10,000 World Series of Poker Circuit Horseshoe Hammond Regional Championship. Nine levels and change were played on Tuesday, and 24 players were left in what was an exciting and eventful day of poker. Ending the day at the top of the counts was Gabe Patgorski with 729,000.

Patgorski started Day 2 with 70,800 and steadily built his stack throughout the day. Just after the dinner break, he won a key pot that vaulted him to second in chips. Holding pocket kings, he flopped a full house against Francesco Barbaro when the flop came Kx6x6x. After the turn and river brought running threes, Barbaro (holding a second-best full house) bet and then called off the rest of his stack following Patgorskis all-in raise. From that point on, Patgorski played a lot of hands, chipped up, and eventually grabbed hold of first place heading into Day 3.

Curt Kohlberg had an impressive day, as well, finishing second in chips with 704,000. He eliminated Chris Bell after flopping a straight with 4?3? when the flop came 7?6?5?. The chips went into the pot after the A? turn, and Bell turned over 7?6? for top two pair that did not improve any further. Kohlberg later eliminated Jonathan Tamayo after a series of raises preflop. His A?K? had Tamayos A?Q? needing help and none came when the board fell 8?6?3?7?8?.

Hand-for-hand play lasted for nearly 90 minutes as none of the final 25 wanted to go home empty-handed. Several of the shorter stacks made moves, but in the end it was not meant to be for Cero Zuccarello. At 3,000/6,000/1,000, Zuccarello got his stack of 42,000 into the pot with A?Q? against Justin Smiths A?4?. The board ran out 9?5?4?6?8?, pairing Smith's hand and busting Zuccarello in 25th place.

Many top pros failed to make it to Day 3 and the money. Among them were Eric Froehlich, Jason Mercier, Kevin Saul, Barry Greenstein, Brock Parker, Chad Brown and Vanessa Selbst.

Play resumes at 1 p.m. local time on Wednesday with the remaining 24 players playing down to a final table of nine. Our Live Reporting team has a front-row seat for all the action, and you can read the full level-long updates right here for the next two days.
