World Open Update

The final table of the PartyPoker World Open VI was set on Thursday and the players resumed play on Friday at the Palm Beach Casino in Mayfair, London. When the players took their seats on Friday the lineup looked like this.

Seat 1: Dale Hoy
Seat 2: Juha Helppi
Seat 3: Toby Lewis
Seat 4: Andrew Robl
Seat 5: Yevgeniy Timoshenko
Seat 6: John Duthie
Seat 7: Sam Trickett

The seven players were playing for the title and a first-place prize of $200,000. While we were writing this, the action was hot and heavy on the felt and a winner has already been crowned. *This is your second spoiler warning.*

Andrew Robl was eliminated in sixth place when he flat-called Toby Lewis' raise with pocket nines. The flop came down Q?9?Q?. Robl lead out to 18,000 and Lewis bumped it up to 65,000. Robl made the call and the 5? hit the turn. Robl then check-called Lewis' 65,000 bet. The river brought the 9?. Robl moved all-in and Lewis snap-called turning over pocket queens.

Play continued and John Duthie was eliminated in fifth place. Juha Helppi followed him in fourth and Lewis in third, leaving Sam Trickett heads up with Yevgeniy Timoshenko. Trickett defeated the young Timoshenko with a rivered two pair.

Hes one helluva player, and youll be hearing a lot more of Sam Trickett, I can promise you that," Mike Sexton said.

Bad Beat; Big Payoff

No one likes losing a hand in poker, but if there's any sort of consolation prize that will make it better, it's $670,575. UB player KAPPIT from Ferris, Texas got her part of the monstrous bad beat jackpot that had accumulated on the poker site. KAPPIT's quad nines were no match for her opponent's, CJBV, quad queens. (Wonder how Andrew Robl feels about this right now.)

Ive been playing Poker for 45 years now, mostly live poker, and I hit a jackpot once in a land-based Casino, but this is the biggest prize Ive ever got. Hats off to UB Poker. It was SO my lucky day to capture the Bad Beat Jackpot, said KAPPIT. Looks like our dream of trading off our 1995 truck will finally happen. Keep those jackpots coming UB...Dreams do come true," KAPPIT said.

For losing, KAPPIT got $218,115.71, while her opponent picked up $109,057.85. The seven other players at the table added $1,000 to their bankrolls just for being at the table.

Maybe a bad beat jackpot is waiting for you, but you won't know if you don't play, so sign up for a UB account today.

In the Land of Luck

While you've got PokerStars on the brain, we should probably tell you about the UK & Ireland Poker Tour stop that is going on in Dublin. The 500+60 Main Event attracted a field of 590 players, surpassing the 250,000 guarantee, creating a prize pool of 295,000.

Plenty of Team PokerStars Pros came out for the Day 1 action, including Vanessa Rousso, Jude Ainsworth, Julian Thew, and JP Kelly. The field was reduced to 307 players after the seven levels of play on Day 1. Leading the way was Shane Crosby with 120,000 in chips. Simon Bernsten was behind him with 106,800, and JP Kelly started Day 2 in third on the chip leader board with 101,350.

Of those three, only Crosby would survive Day 2 action. When the chips were bagged and tagged, he counted in at sixth on the leaderboard. The Day 3 chip leader will be James Keys with 432,600. Peter McGravey is hot on his heels with 430,000.
