This Week in Tournament Poker: August 8-14, 2010 0001

Even despite big, prominent action, a few notable names found themselves in the winners circle this past week. Wrapping up were the Macau Millions, PokerStars Russian Poker Series C Riga, Australia New Zealand Poker Tour Gold Coast and the Florida State Poker Championship.

Well begin by telling you who won the $1,000 No-Limit Holdem Championship at the Florida State Poker Championships. No stranger to winning tournaments, Mike The Mouth Matusow took home the top prize worth $103,000. The event took place at the Isle Casino in Pompano Beach and attracted 140 entries. Among those participating were Adam Roothlus Levy and November Niner Michael The Grinder Mizrachi, making this a tad bit tougher than your regular state championship event. Matusow was extremely happy about winning the event and expressed himself vividly via his Twitter account. He even mentioned that hed be going to Disney World.

The Macau Millions held three events, headlined by a HK$ 1,000,000 guaranteed no-limit holdem event. Justin Chan from Hong Kong was the last player left standing in the event to claim the top prize of HK$ 275,000.

At the 1,850 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event of the PokerStars Russian Poker Series, Alexander Kuperman walked away with the title after the final five players chopped up the remaining money. Although Kuperman took the title, it was fourth-place finisher Martin Meciar who took home the most money. Former 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event runner up Ivan Demidov won the second biggest buy-in event on the schedule.

Nauv Kashya took home AUD$ 182,965 for topping the field at the ANZPT Main Event. He bested a tough final table that included Ricky Kroesen, Aaron Benton and Joel Dodds. Heres a look at the results.
