The Nightly Turbo: Kathy Liebert Joins World Poker Tour 100 Club, $3 Million Guarantee Series in Oklahoma, and More 0001

We've got a little history lesson for you today. Kathy Liebert is only the second person in World Poker Tour history to make their way into the 100 Club. Also, after you hear about the tournament series in Oklahoma, you might want to start booking your flight to the Sooner State. OK, enough of the chit-chat, you've got to get your news and go crush the donks in a little online poker.

In Case You Missed It

The World Poker Tour Legends of Poker is in full swing. Day 2 is in the books and Phil "USCphildo" Collins is leading the way to Day 3. How did he get there? We bring you recaps so you can find out.

Around the world, plenty of live poker tournaments are going on. We can credit them for the slightly lower numbers for the Sunday Majors. Nonetheless, plenty of players showed up on the virtual felt, and plenty of money was handed out. Check out the Sunday Briefing for the results.

The fifth installment of the Ultimate Bet Online Poker Championship saw two events take place Sunday. Tiffany Michelle made a deep run in Event #8 and you can read all about it in our UBOC5 recap.

Did you missThe PokerStars.net Big Game this weekend? Well, you missedScott Seiver doing his thing, Tony G getting on the bike early, and more. We didn't miss it, and we'd like to think that our write up of the show is kind of like your DVR.

100 Club

Kathy Liebert has accomplished something over the weekend that only one other poker player has. She became the second player to have played in 100 World Poker Tour events. Last month at the WPT Bellagio Cup, Erik Seidel became the first player to have played 100.

Her 100th event came at the WPT Legends of Poker, which is under way currently at The Bicycle Casino in California. The Bike was the site of Liebert's first WPT final table and her first ever WPT tournament. Liebert also became the first female player to make a WPT final table, which also happened to be the very first Legends of Poker. She currently holds the record of winningest female in WPT history with $1,745,312 in WPT career earnings.

Congratulations Kathy!

What a Guarantee!

The River Guaranteed $3 Million Poker Series begins on August 23 at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla. There are eight events before the Main Event and $ 3 million is guaranteed throughout the series. Yes, $3 million and yes, you read right, in Oklahoma. The eight preliminary events are mostly no-limit Texas hold'em events with one pot-limit Omaha event and a hold'em/PLO event also thrown in the mix. The guarantee for the preliminary events is no less than $30,000.

The Main Event boasts a $2.5 million guaranteed prize pool. The $2,100 buy-in event has three starting days and kicks off Thursday, September 2. The top ten percent of the field on each starting day advances to Day 2.

On top of $3 million in guaranteed prize pools, a 2010 Porsche Cayenne will be given away to the River Poker Series Points champion. Points are earned by the place a player finishes in an event, the buy-in of the event, and the number of entrants.

Nomination Time

If you haven't gotten your nominations in for the Poker Hall of Fame, you don't have too much more time to do it. There are only eight more days left in the nomination process. Nothing Risk-y About It

The PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour Edinburgh saw 401 players take to the felt in hopes of becoming champion, but as always, only one emerged victorious. Nick Abou Risk battled his way to the top spot to take home the title, 50,000 first-place prize, and a seat in the UKIPT Grand Final (or EPT London).

On Day 1, Risk was seated to the right of Jesse May and Liv Boeree. He battled with Boeree a bit and got the better of the EPT San Remo winner in two big pots. "I had a good feeling on that first day where I was talking through a lot of hands with Liv Boeree. Realizing that she had some respect for my game gave me a lot of confidence and I started stealing a lot more blinds," Risk said.

Setting Things Straight

While we're talking about the World Poker Tour, Daniel Negreanu was in LA for the Legends of Poker and sat down with WPT anchor Kimberly Lansing to discuss some controversial comments he made. Check it out below.

Eligibility Questionable

Football season (and no, we're not talking soccer) is just around the corner and when your star quarterback's eligibility is questionable, it's never a good thing. There is a chance that Middle Tennessee State University's Dwight Dasher is being investigated for allegedly failing to pay a loan back to Oliver Donnell. Essentially, Donnell was backing Dasher in a poker game.

No formal charges have been filed, but Donnell filed a complaint with campus police saying, "a phone call from a subject who identified himself as a patient at the VA Hospital and had loaned a large sum of money to a subject who plays football for MTSU and was not returning his phone calls."

Dasher borrowed $1,500 from Donnell to play in a number of poker games around Murfreesboro, Tenn. A consulting firm is investigating the incident and trying to determine Dasher's eligibility.
