WSOP Circuit Las Vegas Day 2: O'Dwyer Leads Final Table
The second day of action at the 2010 World Series of Poker Circuit Event at Caesars Las Vegas came to a close on Wednesday night after the returning field of 66 players was whittled to just one table of 10. Leading the final group of players is Steve ODwyer, who finished the day with 644,000 chips.
The field was full of well-known names coming back for Day 2. Some who still remained included Layne Flack, Bryan Devonshire, Jeff Madsen and Ted Lawson. Flack was on the wrong end of some big pots and his big stack was slowly parted out to other players at the table. Madsen and Lawson also fell short of a cash. Devonshire, though, had the most stunning exit of them all.
Not only was Devonshire the bubble boy of the tournament, but he also busted in stunning fashion when he flopped middle set to [/b]Brock Parkers[/b] top set. Anthony Yeh opened in early position with a raise to 8,000, and both Parker and Devonshire called. Parker was in middle position and Devonshire was on the button. After a flop of 10?5?3?, Yeh checked to Parker, who fired 15,000. Devonshire raised to 41,500 and then Yeh let his hand go. Parker moved all-in and Devonshire snap-called with the 5?5?. Unfortunately for him, Parker held the 10?10?. It was powerful hand versus powerful hand and Devonshire was on the losing end. The turn was the A? and the river the 9?. No miracle resulted, and Devonshire was out the door in a hurry after the sick cooler he received.
Among those to cash in the top 18, but not finish their day were St. Louis Circuit champion Jeff Roper, Steven Burkholder and Chris DeMaci. DeMaci was the last to go in 11th place before the day ended.
Although the event was originally scheduled to be played over four days, the tournament staff opted to switch the event to just three days. Instead of playing a set number of levels on Wednesday, the tournament was played until the final table of 10 was reached and will finish out on Thursday. ODwyer may be leading the way, but he still has a tough road ahead. The final table consists of some amazing players and should make for some great action. These guys arent afraid to make plays and stick their necks out a bit if they feel its the right move. Heres a look at the final table seating chart and chip counts.
