Negreanu Takes Down BC Poker Open 0001

Daniel Negreanu claimed one of Canada's largest poker events on Sunday by winning the main event of the BC Open Poker Championships, collecting a payday of $371,910 in the process. Negreanu's win over a 690-player field at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, BC, near Vancouver was his third major cash in recent months, following a fifth-place finish at the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event in September and a bracelet win in the 2008 WSOP $2,000 Limit Hold'em event last June.

Negreanu, a Toronto-area native who now resides in Las Vegas, commented on the enjoyment he received from returning to his native Canada and capturing a significant title. "Being Canadian myself, playing and winning the BC Poker Championships is extra special to me," says Negreanu. "The tournament was extremely well organized and my opponents were very good. It may have been a smaller tournament but I would say this has been the best $2500 buy-in event structure I've ever played."

Negreanu was one of several recognizable Canadian and American pros who made the trip to the Rock River for the event. Also participating were Brad "Yukon" Booth, Gavin Smith, Lacey Jones, Mark Napier, Gabe Kaplan, Dennis Phillips, Steve Paul Ambrose, Liz Lieu, Isabelle Mercier, Maria Ho and many others. The final-table results and payouts:

1. Daniel Negreanu - $371,910

2. Adam Croffut - $238,191

3. Warren Russell - $150,285

4. Vorakbotgh Eam - $118,335

5. Vincenzo Abate - $97,204

6. Tyler Patterson - $76,580

7. Chad Thomsen - $59,675

8. Christopher Dinson - $46,489
