World Poker Tour Launches Dedicated ClubWPT Myspace Channel 0001

Prominent social network MySpace and the venerable World Poker Tour have announced today the creation of the first fully integrated poker destination for the MySpace online community. The site, to be branded under the ClubWPT brand name, includes a dedicated WPT channel, offering "must-see content for poker die-hards and casual fans alike."

Elements of the new MySpace WPT community include expert tips and tricks, player profiles, video clips, tournament news, and behind-the-scenes videos from the World Poker Tour and new ClubWPT.com TV series. Well known WPT superstars and other original WPT content will also be featured on the site.

The MySpace WPT hub will also offer a free multi-player poker game, developed by MySpace online game partner Oberon. The free poker game allows players to compete against each other online in real time in tournament play. MySpace's WPT community members can also enroll in the paid-subscription, "VIP" level of the ClubWPT concept, paying $19.95 a month for sweepstakes-based poker offerings. The site offers over $100,000 in cash and prizes each month, including seats into WPT events and the new ClubWPT.com television series. WPT also mentions involvement of the new MySpace community in new World Poker Tour broadcasts, the seventh season of which will soon begin airing on FOX Sports Net. Unconfirmed at this point is the future of the WPT's existing real-money online poker site.

According to Steve Lipscomb, the WPT's founder, president and CEO, "Poker and social networking have separately reached and engaged people around the world in ways like nothing we've seen before. As poker continues to see major growth across the globe, this partnership meets the demand for a poker experience that appeals to enthusiasts of all levels by connecting consumers in one unique, fully-integrated gaming and entertainment environment."
