Caesar's Palace Classic Slated for October Launch
The tournament room at Caesar's Palace has been home to numerous special poker events, but now the Vegas landmark hopes to turn a soft spot in the fall poker schedule into a permanent niche for Caesar's in the poker world.
The inaugural Caesar's Palace Classic will run from October 12-24, 2007, anchored by a $10,000 buy-in event with a guaranteed first prize of $1,000,000. It's another major step for Caesar's, which has hosted, among other events, NBC's National Heads Up Championship and WSOP Circuit events. Despite that, however, there has not been, until now, a major event tagged specifically to the "Caesar's" brand.
Nine of the 13 scheduled events are open-field no-limit tourneys, with a women's event, two Omaha tourneys, and one limit hold'em event completing the lineup. More information is available online at the various Caesar's Palace sites.
Caesar's room manager Jason Halperin hopes that the series will establish Caesar's as a 'poker destination.' According to a local report quoting Halperin, "The $1 million guarantee is the biggest draw, but we believe the entire event is really going to put Caesars Palace on the map in the poker world."
