Las Vegas Grand Prix Poker Event Set For Binion's 0001

An interesting event will play out the first week of April at Binion's "Legendary Gambling Hall and World Famous Poker Room" in downtown Las Vegas. The "Poker Event at Vegas Grand Prix" is a fairly unique tournament with a reasonable buy-in ($550) and semi-guaranteed $1 Million prizepool (based on 2,000 entrants).

Single table satellites ($65 & $125) have been running at Binion's since mid-February and the last week of March will find both single table satellites as well as a Super Satellite ($120) every day at 6 PM. The Supers will award one seat for every six entrants. There will be an even bigger day of qualifying on Thursday, March 29th when an Xtreme Poker Challenge Shootout Satellite is held with a $65 buy-in and a single winner at each table gaining entry into the main event of the Grand Prix tournament.

The Grand Prix tournament will run in 4 flights: April 2, 3, 4 & 5. Each day will be played in the famous Benny's Bullpen where the World Series of Poker was held for 36 years. Up to six hundred players will be accommodated for each of the flights. The Main Event final table will be Saturday April 7th at noon in the Main Poker Room at Binions.

There is also a high-end celebrity charity tournament on April 7th, with a $2,500 buy-in. The prizepool will be divided equally between the final table players and charity. Crash helmets are not required attire but a good fire retardant body suit might be appropriate. You can expect the "celebrities" to include several drivers who will be flashing by Binion's the next day at speeds topping 180 mph. The Vegas Grand Prix itself is run through the streets of downtown Las Vegas in what is known as Glitter Gulch.

There are several Vegas Grand Prix cross-overs promotions in addition to the shootout satellite tournament; these include autograph sessions, Champ Car gear & attire prizes and ticket giveaways for the Grand Prix on Sunday April 8th. The Grand Prix officials and promotions staff have warned the Binion's staff: "We are bringing a lot of players, you better be ready for a big, big event!"

The Poker Event at the Vegas Grand Prix marks the latest in a schedule of innovative tournament events planned for the Grande Dame of Las Vegas Poker in the continuing attempt to bring high end poker back to downtown Las Vegas and back to Binion's. The redecoration of the entire Binion's Gambling Hall is nearly complete; the poker room is sporting new carpet, new table felts and a brand new sports betting lounge. Gone are the dark red flocked wall paper and the indistinguishable 'Horseshoe Aroma.' The two big crystal trophies for the Grand Prix events are on display at the newly completely WSOP Hall of Fame shrine, just waiting to be awarded to an unknown player who satellites in for $65.

So rev up your engines and get out your wrap-around goggles for the Poker Event at the Vegas Grand Prix.
