Sixteen players remain, and only two No. 1 seeds are still alive; Jason Mercier, and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier.
Mercier and Grospellier defeated Brits Sam Trickett and Jake Cody respectively, while Shawn Buchanan fell to David Williams. Of the remaining players, twelve of them are American. The four non-Americans (Grospellier, Daniel Negreanu, Eugene Katchalov, and Chris Moorman) are all on the right side of the bracket, and Grospellier and Negreanu are matched up against one another in the Round of 16.
