First Five With Bracelet Winner David Arsht
We caught up with David Arsht right after his win in Event #13: $1,500 Limit Hold'em to get some of his first thoughts after winning his bracelet. Before today, Arsht had two World Series of Poker cashes; one in a $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. event in 2011 for $14,521 and one in a $1,500 Limit Hold'em event in 2007 for $7,826.
What is the first thing you're going to do as a bracelet winner?
The first thing I'm going to do is get our lives back in order. My wife came out here to visit yesterday. She came to meet me yesterday, and my son lives in southern Utah. I got in this event, and I said, if I make it to the third day we may have to change our schedule around. We were booked in a resort in St. George, Utah. We had to call the hotel and change our reservation. So the first thing I'm going to do after the bracelet ceremony is be where I was going to go. We were going up there for four or five days of vacation to visit my kid, and then I was coming back here for another week.
What is the first thing you thought when you won?
I cannot believe that this happened to me.
Who is the first person you're going to call and tell?
Well everybody's been watching on PokerNews and wherever the live feeds are. So I'd have to say that everybody in my family, and all my friends, and all my poker friends already know that I won it.
What is the first thing you're going to buy?
The first thing I'm gonna buy? Well, I think I had in the back of my mind a plan to do a trip to South Africa in the fall with my wife. There is no question that we're going on a very fancy trip to South Africa.
Who was the first person you hugged or high fived?
I think my son ran over and hugged me and I haven't even got a chance to go over and talk to my wife yet.
Can we expect to see you in anymore tournaments this summer?
Yeah. I'm gonna be in the $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout and if I get knocked out of that I'll be playing the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. the next day.
