Koon Crippled Then Eliminated

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

On the first hands of the day, Austin Buchanan opened to 2,400 from under the gun. Jason Koon moved all in for 30,000 on his direct left, and the action folded back to Buchanan, who snap-called for 27,400.

Koon: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Buchanan: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Buchanan held as the board rolled out {6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{j-Hearts}, and Koon was left with just 600 chips.

He tripled up the next hand with {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} against Buchanan, who held {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, but was soon eliminated by Nancy Birnbaum. Birnbaum had aces this time, holding {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}, which crushed Koon's {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}. The aces held as the flop, turn, and river produced {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}, and Koon was out.

"Mercier, man," Koon sighed after he was crippled on the first hand. "I booked a last long with Mercier."

Jason Mercier, who just sat down, has already won that bet, and now he's looking to build.
